Born from the northern spirit of Finland, Kyrö x Ascend embodies the bold character of 100% Finnish rye, distilled by the renowned Kyrö Distillery. Inspired by the founders’ vision conceived in a sauna, this whisky captures the essence of the Finnish landscape – rugged, pure, and resilient.

Aged in NEOC barrels, these upcycled French oak casks offer a cle an palate that enhances the whisky’s natural depth. The NEOC process, rooted in sustainability, breathes new life into the wood, allowing the whisky to mature gracefully while preserving its distinctive rye profile.

This whisky carries the essence of its Finnish roots—a place where rye is more than a grain; it’s a way of life.

Nose: Kyrö x Ascend presents a bold and complex nose, where peppercorn, extra-virgin olive oil, and mixed spices create a fiery foundation. As the intensity softens, hints of oak, cinnamon, and dried fruits—particularly prunes—emerge, bringing warmth and depth. The interplay of spice and fruit gives way to a delicate whiff of tiramisu, hinting at the whisky’s evolving character. Upon revisiting the nose, prunes and incense become the dominant notes, adding an intriguing layer of depth.

Palate: The palate offers a soft mouthfeel, with an initial burst of sweetness followed by a hint of underlying dryness. Richness builds gradually, with savory notes of chillies and spices adding complexity. The background of prunes and apricots supports this evolving structure, underlined by growing dryness that carries through the mid-palate. The whisky ends with a final, indulgent note of poached prunes in syrup, enhanced by nutmeg.
